In pots usually 120–200 cm high, depending on trunk height and care

Location

Bright spot with lots of indirect sunlight

Also tolerates partial shade, but grows faster in sufficient light

Avoid prolonged bright midday sun to prevent leaf burn

Water requirement

Water as soon as the top layer of potting soil has dried out slightly.

Water more regularly in spring and summer, more sparingly in winter

Ensure good drainage and avoid allowing the roots to remain wet for long periods of time.

Not winter hardy, only suitable as a houseplant

Minimum temperature: approx. 15°C

Protect against draughts and cold air currents

Fun fact: The Ficus elastica 'Robusta' is one of the strongest air-purifying houseplants and was once widely grown for its milky sap, from which natural rubber was extracted.
